The Best at What You Do?

I love the sentiment in Hugh MacLeod’s cartoon…

… which gets to the heart of what everyone needs to address, not only those pursuing an independent path as a sovereign individual or in a portfolio career.  We all need to build and play to our unique strengths.  And we all need to find work which releases and realises those unique strengths if we wish to be satisfied.

The quote, it should be said, is a paraphrase of how promoter Bill Graham famously described the Grateful Dead: “They’re not the best at what they do, they’re the only ones that do what they do.”

(NB: despite recent appearances to the contrary, this blog is not becoming an outpost of Deadhead-ism)
