Ponder fodder: Global Localisation?

In the car this afternoon, I caught part of BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme in which several producers were discussing the fast growing market for (very) locally produced beers, ciders and other products.  Which made me think of the growth in local farm shops and farmers’ markets.  Something to ponder:

As technology sets us free from work locations so that more people can choose to live where they want and to work globally from home, will we (use our commute-free extra time and money to) increasingly seek out and appreciate more local pleasures?
